STONE MOUNTAIN, GA - At Stephenson High School, Alumni Day brought together past and present Jaguars for a meaningful celebration of legacy, pride, and connection. Graduates returned to the halls where their journeys began, sharing stories of success, lessons learned, and encouragement with current students. The event highlighted how the school continues to shape future leaders while honoring those who have already made their mark, reminding everyone of the strong sense of community that defines Stephenson.

Ugonna Love: Pivot & Progress

One featured alumna, Ugonna Love, a 2012 graduate and now a school counselor, reflected on her time at Stephenson with appreciation and pride. She shared that what she enjoyed the most was the strong sense of community: teachers who genuinely cared, friendships that lasted, and school events full of energy and excitement. According to Love, the school spirit was "amazing" and "it created an environment where students felt supported and motivated".

Love also spoke about the educators who had the greatest impact on her journey, including Mr. Minor, Mrs. Bailey, and Mr. Weaver. She explained that these teachers pushed her to be her best and helped shape her work ethic and confidence. Their encouragement not only helped her succeed in high school but also prepared her for her future career helping others. She emphasized that Stephenson was "the place to be" because of teachers who truly invested in their students' success.

When asked what advice she would give to students interested in her field, Love stressed the importance of passion and kindness. She encouraged students to "have the heart for it" and to always be kind to people, especially in careers that involve helping others.
